Photographing Chiang Mai’s Landmarks

I love photography, and I love photographing well-known landmarks in a city. Capturing something familiar and making it your own is such a rush. In Chiang Mai, most of the well-known landmarks are actually Buddhist temples. Today I took the time to photograph the prominent Wat Chedi Luang right in the center of town.

Construction began on Wat Chedi in the 14th century, and was once the tallest building in Chiang Mai. An earthquake in the 1500’s lowered it’s towering height, but it still stands high at 60 meters. The Wat Chedi that we see today is on a campus with 3 temples,  and a university for monks. Several images of Buddha can be seen throughout these beautiful temples.
