Andorra: Andorra by Peter Cameron

This was the first country so far where I couldn’t find a book written by an author from the country. I looked for Andorran authors translated into English, and it’s a short list! So instead I settled for a novel set in Andorra. Andorra by Peter Cameron was an odd one. From the beginning, I couldn’t figure out a sense of the main character or Andorra. The writing felt so strange and stilted, and his interactions were bizarre. Some readers may say that all was made clear by the end, but I disagree. Andorra didn’t really give much atmosphere on the country as a setting either. In my head, I imagined it as a quaint British village based on the author’s descriptions. Overall, I didn’t love this book.
