40 Countries Before 40

Clearly, I love to travel. I’m currently sitting in a hotel room in Bali, Indonesia, which happens to be the 21st country that I’ve visited. Travel is always something I’ve enjoyed. From family vacations when I was growing up to the exotic destinations my husband and I visit now, it’s part of me. I love to read books about travel and travel bloggers. One blog that I keep coming across is this “30 Countries before 30”, as young travelers try to visit 30 new countries before turning 30. I get it. The 20’s are about exploration and adventure, about discovery and experience. But 30 has already come and gone for me. I’m making way to 40. Does that mean my years of exploration & discovery are over? Did I miss out on adventure because I didn’t leave my home country for the first time until I was 21?

I don’t think so. In fact, I think it’s just the opposite. Now, in my 30’s, I have a travel-loving husband, and a job that requires travel too. I’ve visited just as many countries since turning 30 [11 & counting] than before I turned 30, and as I write this, I’m only 31. Which is why I’m announcing my 40 countries before 40 challenge. This is the decade where I’ll see more of the world, with the one I love most, while we do what we love to do. I’m incredibly blessed to live the life I have, and can’t wait for the coming years, and all the adventures!

      1. Ohhh, there are so many… but Colombia, Thailand which I can’t seem to get enough of, Bali (specifically Ubud), Cape Town, Rio…and even though we live here, we actually really love Seoul. It’s great for travellers (but only in spring or fall) – the weather is horrible otherwise.

        Got any trips planned?? 🙂

      2. Yes! We are currently traveling through Southeast Asia. Spent 2 months in Thailand, then Bali, and now we just arrived in Cambodia. And then we’re going back to Bali [because it just wasn’t long enough!], and then Nepal, and then…who knows?!
